Hi, I’m Martha MacLaine,

a family therapist specializing in the coaching and counselling of families formed in more than biological ways.  The focus of my academic studies has been on adoption and blended families and on the main challenges that we face, as individuals and as families.

I have an MA in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Spirituality and post-graduate training in Self-in-Relationship psychotherapy, trauma, shame and abandonment issues.  My professional experience is augmented by a deep personal knowledge and understanding of these issues – as I am a single parent through international adoption, a reunited adoptee myself and lived for many years as a member of a blended family.

My approach to counselling and coaching is both collaborative and eclectic.  I will draw upon your unique strengths as an individual and a family and upon a variety of theoretical and practical approaches such as systems and attachment/relationship theories, cognitive-behavioural therapy and somatic approaches to help you gain the insight and competencies required to move confidently forward.  Your success is my success!

If you’d like to learn more about yourself and your own unique family, to understand and integrate your experiences and to successfully navigate your own and your family’s journey, it will give me great pleasure to share the knowledge and expertise I have gained over these many years, to support you and to make your path just a little bit smoother and more fulfilling.
